Wish

The grass felt so cool against the bottoms of Nali's feet. She stood upon a plain grassland, watching the waves of grass dance to the tune of the winds. The teal colored snake felt the winds blow her amethyst hair and it felt grand. She felt at peace here, no one is here to judge her, nothing to be afraid of. This was the only isolation that she loved, though she though it would be nice to share the view of the horizon with another. She had the perfect time to think, she though about what she would like her life to be, but it felt like so much to ask for. She looked at the darkening sky, she could already study the stars. She witnessed the gathering of stars, there were clusters of them, but one caught her eye. A star with a bluish hue, it seemed to be isolated from the clusters, cold and pale alone. She felt that she was this star herself, alone from everyone. She felt like crying but held it in, she just studied the star.

A sound of grass being crushed alerted her that someone was approaching. Her heart started to pump rapidly, who could this be?

“Nali? Is that you? I've been searching for you since I couldn't see you in the village.” Said a male voice that seemed familiar, she then remember that it was the young blacksmith, Ka. The muscular teal snake with sun markings came into sight and he had an almost concerning look on his face.

“Don't be scared Nali, I don't mean any harm.” He said. Nali stood up and felt embarrassed as her eyes were slightly watery due to almost crying. “What are you doing Nali?” Ka tried to get a look of Nali's front side but she did not permit him. Nali decided to give it up and to look at Ka. The moment she turned around, he saw her watery eyes.

“What's wrong Nali?” He asked with a deep level of concern.

“I..It..It's no..nothing.” She muttered.

“Please tell me Nali, there's something wrong, I want to help you.” He placed his hands on the side of her warm face and wiped the tears off with his thumbs. She was surprised that someone had a concern for her, it seemed like noone cared much for her.

“Oh Ka, why can't I just be like the other women back at the village, I'm just a coward among them. I'm not valuable to the village, why can't they just send me out as an exile, I'm worthless...” Tears gradually swept down her cheeks and dropped onto the grass.

“No Nali, don't say that, I see you always trying to help out the village anyway you can. The problem is not you, it's the village, they can't seem to see that you are very loyal. You're not like the other women, I believe that you are much more committed to things, and much more beautiful in my eyes.” Nali was surprised at what Ka just had said to her, she didn't know what to say really.

Ka felt awkward from saying that and decided to change the subject.

“Wow, Nali, this place is beautiful, do you come here all the time?” he said.

“Every day I come, mainly at night, to see the stars, it brings peace to my mind.”

“Oh my, I can see what you mean, lets look at them together shall we?” He smiled at her and Nali seemed to blush, as this was her number one spot for romance.

They both laid down upon the fresh grass and looked at the heavens. Nali scanned to see her star, she was truly amazed. Right next to her star was another one just like it. Those two bodies together, away from all the other stars in the sky. She looked at Ka, who still observed the stars, she looked back at the sky and smiled.
